About

Because it was difficult to locate the platforms where the music was streamed, artists are getting less listeners and therefore decreasing outreach and profit.

On many of the sites, merchandise was not advertised at the forefront, disengaging the user from interacting with it. This leads to less profits in merchadise sales.

The Challenges

Through exhaustive research and user testing, I synthesized elements that would make the site easy and enjoyable to use.

For example, having all the streaming services available at the top made it easier to access different platforms off the bat.

REFLECTIONS

One thing that this project really showed me was the importance of ensuring the user stayed at the core of my designs. I found myself wanting to get too nit-picky with the visual design, wanting its overall aesthetic and appearance to be the forefront of the website.

However, I pushed myself to sacrifice aspects of what may have made it look more visually creative to put the needs of the user first.

I think something I would change about this project for the future is to use social media platforms or other forms of communication where I could ask people from around the world to test my prototypes rather than just asking people that I know.

This would greatly improve my sample size as well as a more accurate depiction of the target market's needs, given that I would seek out people that properly fit the scope of my target user.

UX Researcher

The Google UX Certificate prompt generator assigned me to create a website for a band that included a purchasing sequence.

Because this prompt was very open-ended, I created a few hypothetical problems: that people on the site were having a hard time finding the artists’ music on their desired platform, and that the music band wanted to increase the amount of merch purchased.
